Lucy Hall has been named as one of twelve shotgun shooters selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming World Shooting Championships in Doha this November.

Hall will compete as one of three British selectees in the Olympic Trap Women’s category alongside Maddie Purser and Leah Southall.

On being selected to represent Great Britain at the Doha World Championships, Lucy Hall said: “I’ve been in the British Shooting family for nearly ten years now and I am very very lucky that they have supported me a lot, with UK Sport and the National Lottery Funding, they have supported me very much which means that without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

She will also join forces with Paris 2024 Men’s Trap gold medallist Nathan Hales in the trap mixed team event, which will also be contested at the world championships.

They will compete against fellow GB teammates Matt Coward-Holley and Leah Southall as well as duos from the best nations around the world.

On competing in the mixed team event, Hall said: “The depth of talent that we have in the team now as well is super exciting from an individual point of view but also in mixed pairs shooting [in which I’ll compete] with Nathan Hales, who won the gold in Paris, so it’s always exciting.”

The World Championships are especially important this year, as the first 36 Olympic quota spots will be available across twelve individual shooting events ahead of the 2028 LA Games.

Hall will be looking to qualify for her second Olympic games after she finished 14th in the women’s trap event at the Paris 2024 Games.

On the opportunity to qualify for the LA 2028 Games, Hall said she felt, "super excited. Obviously having the Paris Olympics under my belt, hopefully my second run of it will be even better, so it’s exciting times for sure. Obviously, it’s just the beginning, and this is just the first opportunity of being able to do something unique, and there are many more opportunities ahead, but the first one is always the most exciting.”

Later this month Hall will also be competing at the European Shooting Championships, which will take place in Greece from 27 September to 13 October.

Similarly to the World Championships Hall will compete in the women’s trap event as she continues to make her return to the sport following a brief spell away after the Paris 2024 Games.

On the European Games and her return to the sport, Hall said: “The Europeans are exciting, obviously in a couple of weeks in Athens; all these are stepping stones towards the world and performing when you need to.”

“I took a little bit of a break after Paris, as I’m still very, very young, and working towards the goal does take a lot out of you, so it was nice to reflect on everything, the years before Paris and what it entailed and what it took out of me, but it’s exciting times.”

About half a month after the conclusion of the European Championships, the World Shooting Championships will commence, with the event taking place in Doha, Qatar, between 1 – 14 November.
